If that's just a "plain and simple" set of arrows I'd love to see a really elaborate set!! Beaut work mate

They do not look like my "plain and simple"
I would love for mine to look that good.

Re: Wayno's Justastik arrowcraft UPDATED Feb 2015
Had a go at some tophats to see how they perform. I can see the advantage in swapping the same weight field points as broadheads and having only one set of shafts. We will see with time.
11/32 Douglas Firs
Crested white, white nocks
Cock feather yellow shortened 4 1/2 inch bananas
Tophats with 125grn spirits
Total weight of 540grns.

Re: Wayno's Justastik arrowcraft UPDATED June 2017
Was getting a little low on arrows yes it dose happen to us all. The best thing I find to any new arrow makers out there is just how accurate and matched you can actually make wooden arrows if you just don't rush the process. I shot all my remaining arrows I had left in my quiver for my longbow. Picking the arrow which shot the best from the group I proceeded to spine and weigh it to match the new arrows exactly to the old one. Each billet was plained down and sanded until the spine jig had them all at 57lb's. Then weigh them and of course there is a little bit of difference between shafts. But all were roughly within 10grns of each other. This weight is closed by coating the lighter ones with more coats in the cresting and varnish process ending up with all the shafts being with in 3-5grns of each other.
So now the new set are all spined at 57lb and all weigh in at the 520grn mark and matched to my longbow. With a little luck they will all shoot the same as the old one. This is the process I use to match arrows to all by bows. I think if you are willing to put in the time in matching arrows to your bow the rewards will speak for themselves when you are out on the range. Now strings that is another whole complete story.
SPEC'S
11/32's Douglas firs hand made and matched all spinned to 57lb from 11mm billets.
Crested white,red and yellow.
Fletched 51/2 inch banana cutt with an inch taken off the back end.
125grn points and total weight of 520grn.
Cheers Wayno

Re: Wayno's Justastik arrowcraft UPDATED June 2017
They look real good Wayno, thanks for sharing the process. I was planning a new set of arrows and was going to use white nocks and caps, 2 white and a red bright barred cock feather. Seems I was on the right track but you beat me to it. Might just go for 3 white feathers again. It makes them easier to see on those long (40+ m) shots they have at the club shoots.
Cheers... Rod

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!
Re: Wayno's Justastik arrowcraft UPDATED June 2017
Hey Guy is good to hear from you my friend. Hunting no have dropped back to 3x4 inch low cut shield to stop the noise especially on the deer as its hard enough to get enough speed from the trad gear let aloan the buggers pin pointing the arrow from the noise of big banana cuts.
