Hi folks,
I recently got some new templates cut for use on my courses. I got some whole-limb templates for the weekend, longbow course, and some handle-only templates for the one-day pyramid bow course.
Just for fun, I had a play around in CAD with a handle design that would bring the displacement of the arrow pass own to about 5 mm without having a cut out shelf. It's essentially a normal handle twisted within the space usually allocated to it.
The idea is, with an arrow pass closer to the plane of the string path, the stiffer the arrow that can be used. Thus, a small variation in stiffness between individual arrows will make for a smaller difference overall. Thus, arrow flight should be more consistent.
I haven't made a bow with this design yet, but I did mock up a handle from a bit of scrap. It feels quite good in the hand.
Has anyone else tried a twisty handle design?

Hi Yeoman,
I like the look of your handle design. It seems like a nicer way to get more centre-shot into a bow without cutting a deeper rest into a handle.
Daryl, the warped limbs of that Walter L Gaskell design make me cringe
