gidgee and black wattle bow.
Few shots of my latest bow, this time all aussie timbers being straight gidgee and black wattle Came in at 45# @ 28'' and is very smooth to draw back. I will put up a force/draw curve later, and have a chrono coming soon so I will post fps as well when it gets here. Being overcast the shots dont show the figured grain in the gidgee as well as I hoped.

So it doesn't have any reflex when strung or has ABA changed their rules? I don't follow ABA so I have no idea what their rules are anymore.bigbob wrote:Thanks Jeff but it still meets the ABa definition of 'modern' longbow

Nice looking Bow Bob, Loving the Aussie Timber - keep making them the suit you Mate, thats what it's all about. You have quite a Stable now Bob, you must have the luxury of a Spare Room or an understanding Wife.

I definitely will give it a go rod, but the piece of wattle i have is too small for veneers or lams.LB rod 55 wrote:Give it a try i think you'll be impressed, even just one lam with the boo,it'll be about 10lb more in draw weight

It is a bit involved meaning multiple glue sessions with great care so as not to exceed the temp. of previous gluing. The next one I do I will do a bit of a build along if people are interested in the process.yeoman wrote:Very impressive. Muchos bowyer-envy.

thanks for the nice comments Perry. Ee understanding wife ???? Most of my bows have gone to other owners. I am hoping to make most of my bows from aussie timbers when they are available.

Beautiful combination of timbers there Bob, that bow looks great. It looks a bit shorter than your earlier ones, what length is it? Great effort mate.

Jeff, I think it may have something to do with insurance underwriters not believing in the power of fish bladder glue and pine pitch. They are of little faith in the old waysStickbow Hunter wrote: Logic?

Re: gidgee and black wattle bow.
You're probably right Rod. They mustn't believe that carbon arras can shatter and leave dozens of bits of carbon floating around in an archers hand (or worse) either.rodlonq wrote:Jeff, I think it may have something to do with insurance underwriters not believing in the power of fish bladder glue and pine pitch. Be proud Bob you have every right to be.

Re: gidgee and black wattle bow.
thanks Mikaluger and Rob. I have got clear glass Rob but wanted the contrast of the black glass to the riser. If I had had a bigger piece of the black wattle I would have made the belly lams at least, out of that.
