Wayno,
Well done mate...!
I hope one day that I can build bows for not only myself, but a few close mates and eventually experience taking game with them...!
Cheers Guy...

I think that is a marvelous idea!GrahameA wrote:Good Morning Wayne
That is a truly wonderful looking bow. It really does look nice and it is good to hear it shoots well. I am certain that many people would love to own a bow that is as good looking as that, I would.
Hi Daryl
It would be something different that is for sure - perhaps we should just have a self-built division one year. Home-made Bows shooting Home-made arrows.greybeard wrote: I agree Grahame.
Imagine holding a traditional shoot where every competitor had to shoot a bow that they had made.
Wayne, I'd be damn proud if I can make something as lovely as that, and on the 2nd attempt, Blimey!

TOP JOB Wayno! That is one fine looking bow. And thank you also for taking the time to do a building along, it does require considerable effort and time to do so but is of enourmous help to those who are also into building bows and need some help and or inspiration, this thread has both in bucket loads.

Hi Wayne,
You have one good looking bow , how does it shoot?
From the photos it would appear you have working recurve tips.

Re: 1 Peace Recurve Bow Buildalong.
Thanks for all the kind words fellas it is much appreciated.
Hey Daryl To be honest mate I dont even know about the working tips Im still a beginner here. It shoots fine little shock quiet and after a couple of dozen shots can group very well with it. Although I am still a little worried about the top limb as I think I may have taken to much off it when tillering it but it is holding up for now.
You might be able to tell me a bit more if I show you some drawn shots of the bow, as I promised Jeff a couple when I could get them.
Dont go picking the gutts out of the form fellas as was just pulling it back for the photos. Thats my excuse anyway.
Cheers Wayno.

Re: 1 Peace Recurve Bow Buildalong.
Hi Wayne,
Although I have made numerous longbows, to date I have only made one recurve. I think dumb luck combined with some knowledge managed to yield a fine shooting bow for me. I need to make a lot more recurves to learn and develop the required skills.
As I am still on a recurve learning curve I am a little short on answers.
The lines that I put on the photo may not provide the whole answer but may help.
Perhaps the upper limb is a little soft and therefore the lower limb may need some adjustment.
Is the arrow shelf center to the ‘n to n’ length? Were you drawing the bow with a Mediterranean or three under release? How much positive tiller do you have on the bow?
Generally, a working tip opens the string to tip angle [which in short bows the bow may tend to induce stack] but as evidenced in your photo you have maintained a low string angle.
Hopefully, someone on the site with more experience may be able to give a more qualified answer.
Daryl.

Re: 1 Peace Recurve Bow Buildalong.
Congratulations mate!
I love the shape, woods, length... Ok just the bow in general!
In particular I like the look of the riser head-on, with the wavy looking wood.
Great work and hope you get many hours of enjoyment out of it.
Cheers, Wolfgang

Wayne, this is a genuine inspiration, that bow looks so good I just HAVE to try making one for myself. Man, I need to organise myself, convince the 2 girls I deserve a bit of time to myself, and get cracking on this! Thanks mate and well done. You must ( and if not, you SHOULD ) be very proud of what you've created. Good onya.
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!
