Re: Granite Belt Bowmen Trad shoot Mar 4/5 2017
Sorry for the delay in posting, it gets a bit hectic here at times.
A great weekend was had by all. There was a couple of light showers, nothing to stop proceedings. For the club first Trad shoot, all I can do is add to the accolades.
There were 3 ranges - Range 1 was ABA coloured targets 3 arrow round (diminishing score) plus the Running Pig, Range 2 was the old style ABA paper targets with the kill/wound area only marked and this was shot as a 2 arrow round (both 1st arrow score), Range 3 was all 3D targets also a 3 arrow round (diminishing score). Plus a 1 minute Hunt Round moving from spot to spot and a static 1 minute speed round, which we were not used to and having double time does not necessarily equate to double score total. These two events were shot with Range 2 and/or 3. We selected our own groups, handed back the scorecards to be allocated a target and range to start on. From that point we were free to choose which range to shoot next, as long as we did one of the novelties with each range. The club has certainly stamped their mark on this trad shoot. The club is relative new and they took a chance on the word of a couple of people that archers would come for the weekend, and have done a remarkable job. For those who didn't make it the weather wasn't as bad as predicted and I'm glad we made the journey, so we can tell everyone to join us them all again next year. Top Job and Well Done. Thank you Granite Belt Archers for a most enjoyable weekend.
Here are some photos for you.

What a great weekend, great courses, great company, great hosts simply had a ball. The clubs grounds give it a real hunters atmosphere and it is hard to believe you are right at the edge of town. The three courses wove there way around the hill side and granite outcrops giving every shot its own challenges. There were plenty of realistic hunting shots, some cracka steep up hill and down hill shots to be had, I can see the shoot only growing bigger and better once the word gets out and about. Congratulations to all the Granite guys and gals who looked after us you truly have an amazing grounds and are a bunch of amazing people.
See you all next year.
Cheers Wayno

A great weekend at Granite Belt Bowmen for their inaugural Trad Shoot. The (small) Team at Granite Belt put on a fabulous shoot with challenging ranges, great food and lots of friendly trad folk to chat and laugh with.
Thanks Kerry and the Team for a fab weekend, I'll definitely be back next year!!

Hi all, Sue and I are sorry to have missed the shoot I must admit I wimped out due to the weather, but just as well because I am on black soil and we had a ton of rain at Meringandan West and would not have been able to drive the van out with only a sedan. But That is to be remedied, as we are having the drive done and work starts 29th of March. So there should be no excuse for next year.
We are really pleased for the Stanthorpe Club for their success and also pleased you all had a good time.
We cannot make North Albert , but will see you all at Barambah.

I would love to be an expert, but experience and lack of knowledge holds me back!
