Blooded longbows

#1 Post by TomMcDonald » Mon Oct 12, 2009 7:30 pm

Hi all,
Me, Christov84 and Craig (not a forum member) went for a good hunt over the last couple of days.
Christov and I blooded our longbows.

Saw about 200 goats in 2 days, saw fallow on the property for the first time.
I saw pigs for the first time too. 2 big ones with about 10 little suckers.

Tom.

First pig sighting. Very exciting. There are about 10 little suckers following these two.

Congratulations! :D
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

Good shooting.
Good to see the pigs are breeding well too with that sow looking a little heavy. There has to be a boar there somewhere.

Tommo, the pigs are breeding heaps there lately. The owner took his first pig there 2 weeks ago since he bought the land in 1996. He has seen a fair increase in pigs and pig sign lately so I'm hopeful I can get to chase some in the future.

Looks like you had a good time fellas, onyas! Nice A.C.S. Adcock your mate Chris has there, Tom ( Hope I'm right or I'll look bloody silly! :? ). What are you shooting? It looks the goods, too. :D

Thanks all,
The bow was made by a D.G. Albright from the US. He doesn't do it as a pro but he makes a few a year. I actually didn't blood it first. It's about 8 years old and afriend from the US sent it to me because he can't use it anymore.
It's Osage (brown with age) and Bubinga. 66" long and 61#@28. Best bow I've ever shot.

Moreton, that's Christov yeah. His ACS is 66" and 70@28. Cocobolo handle I think.

Thanks everyone! Yeah we had a ball of a time chasing these guys around. I thought I was addicted to this trad stuff before I got anything, now I can't stop thinking about it!

Lol it is true! His trendy hairstyle was his undoing. Let me get to within 5 metres of the poor fellow and I put him down with a shot to the heart.

Cheers!

It is a ACS CX Moreton. 66" in height, 70#@28. Let me tell you, it shoots a mean arrow! :D

Chris, I can tell you I have seen goats who must used the same hair stylist as yours and it wasn't the hair over the eyes that let you get so close - it was you using your bushcraft skills. :D Congrats once again.
