Walkabout bowhunt 2007

#1 Post by adam » Thu May 03, 2007 10:49 pm

Walkabout 2007.

Just returned from a great hunt.

Traditional Posse
Pedro Lever, Ben Chambers, Adam Greentree, Manuel Agius
Blackwidow longbow, tomahawk longbow, blackwidow recurve, bighorn recurve. Image

Ben Chambers and myself hunting Manuel’s property for 3 days by left not grassing anything, but camp and mateship was great and Pedro and Manuel took a few animals(billys and foxes)

My second buck with a traditional bow, he fell to me recurve from 15meters, 1 arrow heart shot.
Image

The young buck filled the eskys and made for a great skin on the floor.
The venison dish I like to make while hunting.
Image

Morning Sweet Morning
Heading out towards a grunting buck.
Image

The buck making all the noise, he had 7 girls with him.
Image

A super accomplishment to myself, my 3rd traditional harvested buck. I called him into 12 meters when I spotted him annoying a large buck with does. bighorn custom bow, 750 grain arrow. He made little distance from the shot.

The second day while walking back with my second buck I spotted this guy. This photo was taken a few days later while trying to locate him.

A another good buck hanging with the big guy I was after.
Image

A buck I watched for a while when having a snack and drink.
Image

Same buck teasing me.
Image

I see you too.
Image

A day amongst days.

My arrows for the last days hunt, made by Manuel Agius.
Image

A buck I stood off for over an hour, he walked past me with his does at 15meters. A top experence.

Last afternoon in the last hour of light it happened. stalked him while he rubbed his preach tree.

early in the morning befor ewe butchered the venison up.

Good hunting great mates

What can I say Adam. Absolutely brilliant mate.

It will take a while to top that trip I bet....

Can we expect an article from this trip? I would look forward to reading it if yes.

Adam

Thanks mate, I really enjoyed that.

It's obvious to me, that you're a do'er. A lot of people, myself included, sit around thinking about going hunting. If we actually do go, we usually don't usually have much in the way of results. It's good to be reminded of the positive things that are possible with the right attitude and effort. 8)

There is no use focusing on aiming if you don't execute the shot well enough to hit what your are aiming at.

Thanks guys.

Yeah plenty of footwork Mick, up in the dark having breakfast and waiting for first light in the area I hunt, then walk all day in the better country and walk back through the quieter country in the afternoon/night dark.

Hard enjoyable work and the access to feral animals helps.

Impressive...

#12 Post by jarrah » Sat May 05, 2007 10:15 am

Congratulations, inspiring thread...

Just joined now after a mate linked me to this thread, (that inspired by it yes!).

He has been linking me almost daily to this site and others and I am finally getting back into the sport...

Threads like this are inspirational beyond words or almost feelings...

Would really enjoy reading about the photo detail, camera, times, conditions, lens, settings etc, having shot bow and camera for over two decades but never seriously "hunted" i am keen to know more of both arts...

Thank you for sharing!

Or maybe he wont

Thanks for sharing Ads!

Would have been a great hunt with the boys.

Knowing the hunting we've done I'm sure there was many many a hard mile walked and the rewards sure were earned and deserved.

Can't wait to read the full write up in the mag :D
