A bit of luck...
I got an invite to go out to a new place on the w/end for a bit of a look for a pig or deer.I have not shot for about a month after a work injury flaring up the old torn rotorcuff shoulder so I got the bow out on Sat morning to limber up but new at the first shot the burning shoulder pain ment no more with the 60 pounder.I dusted off the 54 pounder and shot a few and felt I could cope with that fine but need to tune some arrows for it.I ended up using the heavier bows arrows but with about 325 grains up front for a arrow over 700 grains but flying nice.The place was interesting with the hunt being a sit and wait affair watching with binos looking for pigs coming out of the thick lantana to feed on the vine growing in the long green grass.The guy that took me out does not normally shoot the smaller pigs chasing the bigger pigs that he has seen on his game camera but was kind enough to let me take a smaller pig to eat if possible.
It all played out just perfect and I got a shot about 15 yards on a little sow and after breaking the near shoulder and exiting just forward on the far side she only made it about 10 yards into the lantana before running out of steam and was easily found by the massive blood trail on hands and knees.Its the first pig I have eaten and it is very nice not gamey at all and there is a lot of meat on a pig about 20 kgs.
I have to say I may start to lean even more to the heavier arrows because when butchered out the near shoulder looked like it had been shot with a rifle with smashed bone everywhere and still a total pass through.
Cheers KIM

Great work mate mate. Even better you got a feed off it.
I tend to agree with you about the heavier arrow

Shooters get to 50m to shoot, but only a hunter gets inside 20m to hunt.RABBITS (karen) wrote:NUTGRASS >>----> Nobody knows where he came from, & nobody knows how to get rid of him.

Onya, Kim! I gotta have a closer look at this heavy arrow thing.
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Well-done, Kimall!
It's the great, big, broad land 'way up yonder,
It's the forests where silence has lease;
It's the beauty that thrills me with wonder,
It's the stillness that fills me with peace.

yep good on ya Kim. I think a young sow taken in such lush (assuming from the picture) surrounds could be quite good tucker. I wouldn't even consider something that had been running around in drought conditions and probably been eating carrion however.
