FOR SALE Custom knives

#1 Post by tricky » Thu Aug 25, 2016 9:51 pm

1. Made using the stock removal method, with a 400grit hand rubbed satin finish. This is a hidden tang, drop point hunter with an 11cm blade (21cm total), 1084 carbon steel, triple tempered, with softback draw, silver nickel guard, with ringed gidgee and black canvas micarta handle. Handle is finished with several coats of pure tung oil. Note picture does not show but the blade is etched with the same 'brand' as the second knife on the right hand side of the blade. $80 without sheath. Give me a week and I'll make one for another $20.

2. Also a stock removal knife. This is a full tang skinner but would also make a good bush knife, 19cm with a 9cm blade, 1084 carbon steel, triple tempered, with softback draw, satin finish, with Padouk handle and stainless pins. Handle finished with Tru-oil. $70 for knife and sheath.

Both solid knives, will hold an edge well, and - unless you use them as crowbars - are gonna last. If you're interested in either PM me or make an offer.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice work mate love the knives. If you dont mind I would like to give just a small bit of advice as I have made a few knives and use a similar type sheath. Take the time to put a welt in the sheath when making it as a knife that quality will last for years and it will push down more in the sheath over time and then cut the thread on the stitching. Then someone might kneel down and end up with a knife in the leg. Awesome knives deserve the best sheath.:)

Hi Kim, you might not be able to tell from the picture but the sheaths have welts. I too don't want a knife in my leg. Cheers Ric

No problem at all mate. Leather in the picture is 6-7oz with a welt that's between 8-10oz. That said I use 7-8oz on sheaths now for a bit more stiffness but that is arguably overkill for the size of the knives.

Whilst on the issue of safety these sheaths are all good whilst dry but any leather sheath that becomes saturated will lose its stiffness until it dries again and you need to be careful. If I had the time I would make sheaths from kydex as that stuff stays stiff regardless.
