My bad luck is your good fortune, and from Fanto's descriptions of how it stacks after 28", it would be diabolical for me, the extra 4" would turn it to a 130# bow for me. Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Fraser,
I tend to like my heavier bows as longbows, had a few up above the 80lb mark and one Kramer longbow that was close to 90lb.

The last heavier recurve I owned was a Martin lynx old seventies style bow with a metal riser from the old lynx compound and a pair of Hatfield limbs, came in around 80lb and shot like rubbish.

Just read Fanto's post on this bow, 110lb @ 28 and stacking! Might not be my idea of fun as I have long simian like arms. My draw length on a recurve is about an inch and half longer than on a longbow. I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board on this one.

I love the Howatt Hunters but I cant abide a stacky bow.

Hi Chood, I've noticed that the heavier bows stack exponentially, my Woomera longbow is 80# at 28" and 95# at 32", my warbow is 100# at 28" and 125# at 32". Recurves have a different force draw curve combared to longbows, but any heavy bow will increase by 6 to 7 lb per inch when it passes 100# at 28". I don't want to scare any one from purchasing this bow, but if thier draw is greater than 28" the increase in wieght that they will be dealing with won't be 3 or 4#.

But if you want to fling 1000gr arrows at a great rate of knots, and nock over 3d targets, than this bow is for you.

Chood

It's a beast. It doesn't get worse or stack at 27 or 28, it just ramps up by 10lb per inch from 24 all the way to 28.

1000gr arrows are a piece of cake for this bow. 700 gr arrows are like dry firing the bow!

1300 to 1500 grains no worries. You'll be knocking over 3d targets that's for sure!

I guess my main worry is that at 28 inches we have a weight if 110lbs, if the bow is marked as 100 @ 28 then this would indicate a draw weight of 110lb and no stacking or 110lb and stacking. If Fanto says it does not stack @ 28, that is well and good but my draw length on a recurve is about 29 and a half inches. This then enters both the world of stack and also possibly a draw weight beyond my capability.

I think I will regrettably have to pass on this. Leave it for a stronger man with shorter arms.

You won't get this bow to 29.5 mate. It would be well into the 120s. That's a lot. And a massive step from the heavy longbows you're shooting. I shoot 75@28 and this was a huge step. I can draw my bow plus my wife's 30lb bow at the same time, and this hunter is still heavier and harder to draw. It is a real beast of a bow, it's for , lets face it, elephants, hippo , rhino and buffalo using arrow well above 1000gr.

My measurement at 28" wasn't 100% accurate but I'd say that like all martins it is a little under rated at 100lb. Martin likes to argue this.

Anyway, all good. Chuditch no hard feelings. I destroyed my left ac joint with this bow and don't want anyone else to suffer the same injury.

Just like in the odyssey, one day someone will come along who can brace the bow.

Cheers
