This is located on the Howqua River. It is an absolutely beautiful area. From info I could locate I believe the tunnel was dug by Chinese gold miners and is 100 metres long. It was dug to divert the water in the river. I would hate to dig 100 millimetres into that rock let alone 100 metres.
The tunnel went in four or five metres and then did a sharp left turn. I wasn't taking my boots off to get inside for a look.

Love the 'freeze action' on the last shot especially, but beautiful area by the looks. Can't believe the effort needed to drive that tunnel through that rock. Hope they got enough gold to make it worth the effort!
