Bit shorter than normal
This is one I finished today. Riser is purple heart and zebra wood, bamboo lams, 66 NTN, 50# @ 26.
Made it for lady, but it came in 15# to heavy, so it's been hangin on the wall for a couple weeks, decided to finish it today.its only had one coat of paint because i havent cut a shelf in it yet

Righto, righto...now you're just showing off! ...
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!

Rod, love that bow!! I like the riser and the contrast between the purpleheart and zebrawood especially the alternating timbers on the belly side.

Nice work!
I like the idea of the shorter length. How short would you go Rod?

Are you well informed or is your news limited?

Re: Bit shorter than normal
thanks mate,to use myself 66 would be the limit for this design at my 29,but ive got some advice that its a bit short for my draw length, but i've cut the shelf in it now so i'll give it a test see how it goes, its all fun unless it brakes and i knock myself out i finished another bow off this form last week that was 64in which is my shortest bow yet....
Re: Bit shorter than normal
Rod
That bow has a nice bend to it. what was the handle length? Your string angle at the knocks looks like its still not 90degrees yet, does it seem to stack Rod. Anyway bloody nice job rod... Roscoe

Thanks Roscoe, its got a 16in handle,it's smooth and does'nt seem to stack but,i'm use to a bow thats 15lb heavier, but i'm going to test it and see how it stands up to a heap of shot, might even take it hunting with me next week have you finished a bow yet since the muster?

G'day "LB rod 55"
I've said it before and I'll say it again the bows you've been building are "Fully SicKkkkkkk".
S 8)I 8)C 8)K
So isn't it about time you did a show and tell build along for the poor mortals and before I go insane from viewing such symmetry..........Bill

Re: Bit shorter than normal
thanks Bill,i do pretty much the same as Jeff did in his build along, exept i do a lot of swearing and throw a lot of things, and it would be embarissing to have pics taken with tears running down my face. .......i shot 40 3d's with the little bow and i was pretty happy with.
Re: Bit shorter than normal
Thanks, I agree the build along demonstrated by Jeff is a good one. But I have a question that you may be able to answer.
When cutting and sanding down the tapers, (or are yours all parallel) just how do you calculate and ascertain the correct thickness for each taper to ensure the desired bow drawing weight @26". An answer to this and many other questions (no I promise just this question) would resolve one of my biggest problems. thanks.........Bill

Re: Bit shorter than normal
Bill,i use a digital caliper to measure the thickness of each lam and i have a master taper to get the taper i'm after, ive got a book that i keep a record of each bow i do so if i want to do a certain weight i estamate from that and hope to get close, does'nt always work especially using different types of timber but helps.
Re: Bit shorter than normal
Thanks LB rod 55, I understand what your saying, for my mechanical background has shown me the importance of a finite measure. Ok so back to the shed, I'll get it sooner or later, I hope sooner, but those Bamboo boards sure do make you work. ..........Bill
