I made my first laminated longbow

#1 Post by FORRO » Tue Jun 08, 2010 5:22 pm

Over the years I have watched and helped Jeff (Stickbow Hunter) make longbows for me and others so I decided to give it a go myself. Over the past month or so I not only made one for myself but for my two sons and a couple of mates as well. :D

I used bamboo flooring for my laminations, QLD Blackwood and Qld Walnut for the risers and black Bo-Tuff glass. It's a big learning curve but it is a lot of fun. I was talking to Rod (LB rod 55) and he told me I had to put some photos on the site so here are a few photos of the bows.

Good job Keith and great to see you havin' a go at makin' your own mate. I'm sure you have a sense of real satisfaction from making and shooting your very own hand crafted bows.

Goood onya Roddie for getting him to post the photos up on the site. :D

I agree great photo's and great looking bows, 8) but what I would have truely loved even more, would have been some of the photo's of the bow inprogress builds. I do love seeing things come to life in a build. I learn a little bit more each time someone presents a build along, it's not easy to get it right if there is no-one near-by to seek advice or get assistance from, therefore I love seeing build alongs. Again a great job well done..........Bill

Morning Keith.

Good to see. Now you have no excuses not to go hunting.

Great looking bow, well done.

That centre section of the pig is getting a beating. The bow is certainly putting out some power.
