The other end of a work string

#1 Post by rodlonq » Sun Jun 06, 2010 6:35 pm

Hello all,

I was making up a work string for tillering etc and would like to know what you fellas do at the other end of your work strings to make them stay together and be suitable to put a bowyers knot at any length ( I have a loop about 1 1/4" long spliced in one end already)? Also, do you serve a good length in the middle so it can be protected on the tillering stick at all bow lengths from say 48" to 72"?

Thanks, Rod

Rod,

I have a flemish twist string with a loop one end and twisted the full length and then simply tie a granny knot in the end to stop it untwisting. I use a timber hitch when putting the string on bows. I don't serve my tillering strings at all.

Gidday Jeff,

Thanks for the help mate. That'll save a lot of work and materials.
