barramundi skins for backing?

has anyone skinned a bow with barra skin?? or any other fish skin for that matter? pics......

i might be able to get some good skins......

There was an awesome yew selfbow with a halibut skin backing on Paleo Planet recently. Paleo's forums are down now though, says something about maintenance... I'll link it up tomorrow, it was really cool.

The Barra skin I have seen down here is very thick and has loose scale pockets so it may not be ideal but it is a nice skin. I like the look of Sturgeon skinned bows in the States. Steve

Talk to Mike dy He has a Howard Hill with Shark on it and i have seen mike with fish hide in hand that he has bought. Don't know if he uses it on bow or his leatherwork.

steve, thats exactly what i found. big loose scale pockets (judt didn't know what to call them)

i had some tanned ready to go on but chose not too as they just didn't look all that good.

the skins of the barra i did looked much like this
