hey guys.. just wondering what type of wood to use when making my own arrow shafts?? or can you use any?? do they have to have specific characteristics?? any tips would be great. cheers.

well if your folloing the english then ash or birch was used in some of the war arrows, if your going for the american idians then river cane with for shafts, hickiory or dogwood

Ive used bamboo, oregon, red cedar and quangdong.
All have different properties, straight grain is very important.
