little bit different
i finished this bow this arvo, its for my mate Ferdie he keeps breaking his he wanted it to have a smaller round handle and no shelf, cause he shoots off his hand and he wanted it to be around 90lb so i had a go, had a couple of problems, first one was my other mate used turps instead of metho to clean the lams i didnt realise until after it went into the hotbox, so i'm expecting it to delaminate, so i named it the time bomb, and it turned out 74 not 90lb, so i start making him another one tomorrow, i love this bow making..............Rod

Re: little bit different
Great bow.
Have you had experience with turps causing them to delaminate? Why does it happen?

Re: little bit different
this is my first attempt at a deflex reflex ,68 ntn 45lb at 28 ,bamboo limbs, burdikin plum and purple bloodwood in the handle and tip overlays brown glass, not happy with the profile of the limbs so making a new form today,i learnt a bit doing this bow next one will be better.......Rod
Re: little bit different
Rod,
The bloodwood and burdekin plum with bamboo accents in that reflex deflex bow look fantastic! Can't wait for the next bow pics to be posted...they just keep getting better!

Re: little bit different
Seems you are being kept busy of late Rod. I don't thing the oily turps will do much for the bow, better keep an eye on Keith next time. That Deflex/Reflex bow profile does look different; have you got a photo of it strung up?

Re: little bit different
The bloodwood and plum together look great
Shame about the illusion, the next form will be much better I am sure. Posting up the shape so others don't go down that road would be help

Thanks for the photos Rod. I can see why you were making a new form and it looks better going by the photo. As you say though, it is a way to learn.

Re: little bit different
Hey Rod good to see you having a go at the deflex-reflex. I am shore the new form will put out some special bows for you.
Have you tried the parrell lams yet instead of the tappered ones will be interesting to see how they perform as well.
Hope Texas brings plenty of photos will be good to get back to the bush.
Cheers Wayno
