bow building
Just wondering do you always need to place a laminated bow in a hot box while it drys???
Re: bow building
No mate if you use techniglue it drys fine at room temp just leave it a few extra days before bending it to be sure.

Re: bow building
Hi Mate,
IIRC it's about 36 hours to cure at 20 degrees for techniglue. An idea that I cannot take credit for is to bung it in your car during a sunny day, that would speed up your curing.
Cheers,
Richard.

A builders house is never built, a mechanics car is never fixed.
Re: bow building
I agree with reece there, even though on the packet it says leave overnight at 20'C i would leave it atleast 36-48 hours.
Cheers, Toby
Re: bow building
i live in a pretty warm area and i haven't had any failures with techniglue, even with the high humidity up here. i usually leave them overnight but i have worked on a techniglue bow 8hrs after glue up, and really got to bending it within 12-14. thats at about 40*c.
now i try to have a couple on the go at different stages so i can work on one while i'm waiting, as i'm not very patient.

Re: bow building
What i do which seems to work pretty well is just wrap it in an electric blanket and than bung that in an old sleeping bag when i do this i wrap up the whole form well in plastic so that its clean and wont ruin you blanket i do this and can hold it at about 55°C
