String Grooves
Just finished cutting some string grooves, and on one limb the string doesn't go down the centre; it goes slightly to the side.
The bow is a blank and I am pretty sure that all the other dimensions are right.
The grooves look good and even, and after hours of fine trimming I still can't seem to get the string just right down the centre.
Any ideas?

Photos would help us give the best advice, it could be caused by a few things. Steve

Re: String Grooves
i recon love a good problem, with pics and ideas to fix it, but i would guess so far that the lams are not even i.e one side is thicker than the other (no 1 make a taper joke) or the nocks arnt quite right
Im gonna make it bend and break-Fall Out Boy
Re: String Grooves
A few things can cause that Tom, even when you mark everything out dead centre there is no guarantee that the limb will pull straight....Glenn....

Re: String Grooves
So how much of an issue is it that the string is a few mill off?
Re: String Grooves
It's not really an issue at all Tom on a straight laid bow... I've made quite a few self bows with the string running off centre to varying degrees and they shot fantastic. The fact that your bow is glass should not make a difference. If you're happy with the way it shoots then I wouldn't worry.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for the reply matt_d.
I'll finish the bow and and start tuning and see if there's a problem.
Tom.
