Ok thanks glenn, i was going to cut it down to a more usable length for a small fellow like me anyway. I will use what is left for risers. That still means i have 6 possible staves for 40$, thats pretty bloody good seeing as though i was considering using pine 24 hours ago

Should have them cut on the bandsaw on thursday, will post some pics. I marked out the dimensions. I have a 20cm handle section. Straight taper to approx 20mm wide and leaving the thickness for now but i heard to aim for around 10mm or 8 or something around there. Will stick to the outside of those lines and continue by hand.

Ok day 2, marked out one board, 2 staves at 40mm wide. Going to rough them out tomorrow on the bandsaw. Have glued one piece of timber on the board and i am going to try and cut it with the bandsaw instead of my cutting them all up. Here are some pics,

Only doing one board incase i want to try something different on the other staves. This stave also has a crack in it so i made it the belly, and it should go away when i tiller it down, here is a pic. Its about 1-2mm wide and maybe 10cm long, its toward the tip of the right hand stave so it should be fine as long as its not too deep.

Ok roughed out 2 nice staves yesterday. Still a bit stiff and gets around 3-4 inches bend in each limb. The dimensions are, 71" long, 19mm thick at the handle and tapering to 9mm at the tips. Width is 40mm at the handle and tapered to 25mm at the tips. Those were my starting dimensions and it gets some nice bend but i still need to take some more wood off.

I think it may be too wide at the tips but would like some advice. Couldnt get any pics so i will post some on saturday.

what i am finding with my spotty bows is that the tips need to be thin 10-20 mm because spotty is so stiff wood and my tips are 20mm wide at the moment and its still stiff as.

I think alot of people would recommend keeping the tips a bit wider until you get down to tillering.
I think it's in case you need to make small adjustments with string alignment and what have you.

More pics coming soon! Getting the tillering done now and the limbs bend around 8-10 inches, pretty happy with how its coming along.
