Re: my own lams.
It looks good Rod. The photos are a bit small. It would be best if you could make them bigger from the original file as most likely upsizing wouldn't work well - sorry.

Hi Rod,
The photos are fine.
A bonus to those on a limited download.

Yeah Grahame you can zoom them but the quality isn't there. I like to see good detail in photos, especially of bows.

Re: my own lams.
Can you write a tutorial on how to make one? It looks like a really nice bow, i would love to try one after a normal bamboo flooring bow.
Cheers, Toby

Re: my own lams.
thanks guy's,yes Lewis it means three different colours i usually just do two but now i do three yellow black and white not any harder to do than two colours...LBSteve i just did these ones in halves and glued them together will do full lenth in the future i will get the missus to put bigger photo's up when she gets home i think it goes well with the dark bamboo, pdccr if you look at Jeff's bamboo build along it's more or less the same, we just have different forms......and i look better doing it.... ...........Rod

Re: my own lams.
The handle wont break Rod I keep mine off centre and legal for all organisations but radius the window to the centre line of the riser.
It is up to you though . Steve

Re: my own lams.
Those pics are great, small file size for those of us on dial-up, enough detail to see well, thanks mate. Hopefully others will see what you have done.
Re: my own lams.
I noticed jeff used glass, did you do the same or is that just the colour of the boo?
Cheers, Toby

Re: my own lams.
That's better Rod, my old eys can see the detail now. That riser has a bit of fiddle back in it and it looks like you have changed the look of your sight window on this bow?

Re: my own lams.
Toby i used 40thou brown glass for this one,Len i made this bow as a gift for my hunting buddy,he keeps saying he's impressed with the way it shoots and feels, yes Jeff the riser does have a fiddle back affect if i know what you mean,i try to make each bow different ,by doing tips different as well as the sight window on this one just experimenting,i didnt get a bite from you about what i said to toby before ..........Steve just joking about the handle i took it in a bit further since i took the photo's ............Rod
Re: my own lams.
it's beaut Rod,
is that a lam of glass in the tips?
i like the colour of the glass, can anyone tell me of a timber that colour that might be suitable for backing an all wood, or can you stain wood for bows.
if you can stain it how do you do it/ when do you do it. do you do it once its in place and tillered, and if so how do you stop it getting on other lams. if you do it before you glue up i wouldn't think it would penetrate deep enough to stain the wood in the middle where the tillering will take it back to. anyone???
otis...

Im more interested in the bow but maybe the girls might be interested in the builder

Re: my own lams.
Hi Rod,
It would appear that you got the 'bugs' out of the grinder. What percentage taper are you using for the laminations?
The Burdikin Plum blends in well with the bow. Brown glass [in my opinion] seems to suit most timbers.
Cheers,
Daryl.

Ummmmm,
when Rod says his hunting buddy is impressed with this bow, that might just scrape in as the UNDERSTATMENT OF THE YEAR,
the man loves the bow and is cheering hard about how good it is, and this guys is one of the better TRAD bow hunters i have wandered the scrub with over the past 30 years.
he has many - many years of TRAD bowhunting under his belt and knows timber inside and out himself, so to have a bushman the caliber of this guy useing your bow with so much enthausim is wayyyy cool.
big Rod is a man of few words when it comes to his talents with timber, and i always make a noise for him, as i want his work to be recognised for the high caliber it is.
he's come a loooong way in a short time, of corse the support and teachings he has from arguably aussies beiggest named Bowers is a "fast track"
tis the nature of the beast to keep "trade secerts" but giveing the big man's most pleasant deminia and how he holds himself in life is testament, enough to see why he was so well recieved / tutored by his peers.
good guy dont always finish last, and it's a pleasure to see this one finishing in the top pack.
and yes he is my friend.
Kindest Regards, Brett ( my way of saying thanks i suppose... )
