Re: Matt's Footed Arrow Shafts
what effect does this have on the arrows spine if any?
Cheers

Re: Matt's Footed Arrow Shafts
It is normal to see a slight increase in spine as the heavier timber that comprises the foot is usually "stiffer" and you now have a beam that is not homogeneous along it length. it is "stiffer" more at one end than at the other.
However, as you have increased the mass of the arrow shaft more at one end then the other the arrow will react differently at launch. There is increased inertia in the front portion and the total arrows mass will probably have increased. So the arrow will flex to a greater amplitude, it may leave the bow with a slightly reduced velocity but greater energy and a different natural frequency with different nodal points of vibration.
Or in simple terms - try it as you will probably not notice that much of a difference from a spine viewpoint but the greater FOC will be apprent.

Re: Matt's Footed Arrow Shafts
Thanks Graham, that's what I was hoping for.
I have been relatively unsuccessful at finding woods to shoot well bare shaft out of my widows but this just makes me want to try again.

Re: Matt's Footed Arrow Shafts
Thanks Graheme Thats it pretty much. It also helps shooters like me that tend to miss the target regularly....... i'm less likely to snap off a tip, eh Jeff?GrahameA wrote:Or in simple terms - try it as you will probably not notice that much of a difference from a spine viewpoint but the greater FOC will be apprent.
