Me 2016 Bow Finished.

Well me one bow a year has finally come to for. After the last recurve I made come in to light for a hunting bow it was time to ask the bow building Gods for a little more poundage and they didn't disappoint this time around. I don't think I will ever figure out the right recipe for stack thickness and poundage. Was aiming for around 58-60lb@28 and she has come in at 66-68lb@28. Never mind as I may just have to call the new bow "Thumper".
I stuck with the Queensland Walnut limbs with Osage overlays as I really like this contrasting combination, the tips are Conkerberry and Riser Burdekin Plum with an Queensland Walnut centre and Osage accent stripes.
I am looking forward to setting the bow up for hunting and learning to shoot a heavy bow again?

Cheers Wayno

Bow specs
63'' 66LB@28

that is a very nice looking bow Wayno. If it's the design I think it is, the weight stacks listed seem way out of line, always to the heavy side, even considering the stack measurements are really critical in terms of tolerances. You have done a great job once again.

Awesome Job Wayno, very dark and mysterious......That name suits it perfectly. A few arrows a day and you'll be soon shooting it like your lighter bows I'm sure

Nothing better than working on a bow with a friend. I miss my mentor and the times we had. By the way I love the scullpted look of the riser and the low grip. It's got to be a shooter. :Bow

Nicely finished Wayno.

The timber combination in the riser gives an impression of 'warmth'.

If needed you can make a lighter set of limbs.

Highly impressed Wayno, that's some excellent work there mate. Great contrast with your timbers, looks like it wants to go hunting 8) .

Now that you've done a couple it will get easier to judge your core thickness. I reckon you'll nail your next one.

Rob.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas it is much appreciated. Still making arrows for it but have been shooting the curve on a regular basis and appears to be a good shooter.
Took some photos of it after I applied some furniture polish before I put it back together, thought you'de like a few.

Cheers Wayno

The furniture polish certainly brought out the grain and depth of colour, well done.

She's a beaut. I take my hat off to you blokes who make take-downs - there's an incredible level of finesse in what you do.
