Hesitated to post this but it was a fun project

Finally healthy enough to get back out to the shop and have fun. I had a set of limbs that came out way too heavy so I built this 21" highly deflexed riser out of 1 1/2" angle iron. I was able to salvage the limbs and the bow came out at 68" nock to nock and 52lbs at 28'. Don't know how traditional it is but anyway spits out arrows pretty good and is pretty accurate too.

Here's the Force Draw curve and chrono data for the bow. 525 gr arrow at 182 fps at 28" 52.03lbs at 28"

Here are some more numbers from different arrow weights.
672 gr arrow @ 161 fps
476 gr arrow @ 189 fps
388 gr arrow @ 203 fps
Added some color to it.

Hi Ben,

The riser may be 'different' but at least you have a bow that works. :Bow

The big bonus is that you can enjoy playing in your workshop.

Have you thought about making a laminated timber riser for the limbs?

Daryl.

Daryl I had them mounted on a 16" wood riser originally but the weight was 75 lbs. Then I narrowed them to 1 1/16" wide at the fades which got the weight down to 70 lbs then I put them on a 17" riser and got the weight down to 67 lbs which was as low as I could get them. It was a strong bow shooting a 675 gr arrow at 188 fps. Way more bow than I would ever need here in the US. Plus it was too hard on my shoulders. So now I. Can play with it. Maybe someday I'll try and build a laminated wood riser that matches the dimensions of the metal one.

It is very reminiscent of the Terminator for sure. Maybe a 19" riser would drop a bit more weight to make it more comfortable.

Rod I built a 19" riser to hopefully get the weight down but it only dropped it 2 1/2 pounds. Had to go to 21" and a couple of inchs of deflex to get it shootable. Always been a little off center so I didn't have a problem building a crazy riser.
Just started a new set of limbs and a 17" lean wood riser for this years hunting bow.
