Mark 2 pyramid bow.
after the first failed at some run out I scrutinised the remaining plank and managed to get enough out for this one. Grain is roughly 1/4 sawn/ rift sawn, but runs fairly true along the length. I have had about 20 shots so far with no sign of fretting or splintering. As with the first I backed it with denim mainly as some sort of insurance. It is 50# @ 28'' and 66 NTN. It is some type of wattle but as it was given to me I am not sure of which particular one but it is well seasoned, and makes a beautiful looking bow and flicks an arrow surprisingly well and as with most self bows very quiet.

Glad to see you got a shooter with this one. It's remarkable sometimes what timber can be used to make a working bow. Your clean lines & simple approach have built a nice shooter I think anyone would be proud to shoot. Nice one, Bob
Any particular reason it's set up for a lefty?

thanks Nezwin! I'm surprised how nice it handles, fairly fast for a 'selfie' and quiet as is more normal with all wooded bows. The reason I made it a 'leftie' is 'cause its new owner is a leftie! LOL Did a swap for some timber [ same as this came from] so might find another friendly piece for one for myself. I love this style of bow , as you say simple, but somehow elegant I think.

Bob,
It would appear that you have achieved good results with this one, you have certainly been busy.

Re: Mark 2 pyramid bow.
As long as the new owner takes car of it I would assume it will do the job quite well. It is tillered to 28'' but hasn't had a lot of shots out of it, maybe 20 or so It had a bit of natural reflex which I made the back, and after those 20 or so shots it has only adopted about 1/2'' of string follow.I know it will probably get a little more once it all settles in, but it appears to have some 'snap' to it. I will make myself one as well as I am quite impressed with the characteristics of this one.

That's one awesome looking bow Bob. Well done mate.
If you have any more like this on the work bench let me know.

thanks Mick for you kind words. At the moment I don't have any more at hand. I did have a sister billet from this bow, but am concerned about grain run out on it neAr one end.I will be keeping my eye out for suitable material as I want one myself anyway.I will indeed be reluctant to hand this one over to the new owner !
