I am talking timber arras here. Dr Ashby has shown the performance advantages to be had on game and I base most of my hunting arrow construction choices on his great work.
I am half way through finishing off 100 western Larch tapperred shafts for hunting and stumping - beautiful shafts!
On game...
Who prefers tapperred over parralelle?
Who finds little or no difference?
Who has noticed an appreciable difference?

Re: Tapered shafts for hunting
i haven't had the privilege to hunt with tapered shafts but from a logic stand point penetration would be better because the amount of drag experienced as the arrow penetrates would be less compared to a non tapered shaft. so deeper penetration would occur.
if i had my brain on we could probably calculate the difference in drag. but sadly my brain has vacated the premises for this evening.
