Turn Boots
Evening all,
Only very slightly archery related but I have just made myself a pair of medieval turn boots for Abbey Medieval festival next weekend (attending as an Archer and Bowyer). These are my very first attempt at them and I couldn't be happier. They came out fairly neat and actually fit so I'm stoked.
Just need to add some laces and rub a bit of wax into them and they're done.

Re: Turn Boots
I was hoping for a whole new fashion line...........
Re: Turn Boots
Top effort Colin. I've progressed as far a Centre Seam Moccasins. Have not got to Turn Shoes yet. Very interested to see them next Weekend. You'll find you will have to adopt a different Gait wearing these types of Shoes. I find they can be very slippery if you walk as you do wearing Modern Shoes. Try walking so your Heal makes a more solid Contact with the Ground, much less prone to Skating, especially walking down Grassy Slopes

Re: Turn Boots
Thanks Perry!
So far I have just been walking around in them as normal but have yet to try tackling a grassy hill... could be interesting. Im considering using some hide glue to attach a second sole onto the bottom of these to further increase their lifespan. Having done flesh stitches in them already there is very little contact between thread and the ground.

Colin I have a set of Jorvik Turnshoes that have Hobnailed Soles, maybe you get hold of some thicker Leather and Hobnail new Soles to them
this is not an image of my Shoes but it gives you the idea

Re: Turn Boots
Nice work Colin. I recently bought some 3 oz. leather to have a go at a pair of plains moccasins. Nice to see some one having success with these type of projects.
