Although the video clip is quite basic it shows how a bush stave can be fashioned into a bow using simple tools.
I was impressed with the system the bowyer used to hold the stave firm whilst it was being worked.
This method could be used to make all manner of selfbows.

Re: A Nydam Style Viking Bow.
A great video, I was surprised by his use of Irish Yew. My understanding was that this species had far too many pins & knots to be useful as a selfbow wood. There are parts of Victoria & Southern NSW where this is not an uncommon timber, I am told.
His shooting form at the end was a little odd, compared to what I've been taught, but I suppose that comes down to preference, I suppose. The deer/pig/goat/butte at the end of the arrow wouldn't care if your form was "good" or not.

That was a nice little video. I too liked his field-expedient bow clamp.
I didn't think there was any forest left on Ireland.
As for how easy it was to scrape that wood: I think I've had harder butter! That guy would be in for a shock if he tried some of our properly hard woods.

Perhaps entry to trad shoots should be 'bow made by nominee'.
