You may have noticed that bamboo has been featured in my last five bows.

The sixth is a 60# bamboo backed hickory longbow. Tip overlays are African Blackwood.

In each instance the timber lacked the structural integrity to survive as a selfbow.

I believe that these projects prove serviceable bows can be made from less than ideal timber especially when relying on milled boards.

Nice bow, but I love the nocks. Glued on, or pinned and glued somehow?

Alan, when the epoxy in the glued up bow has cured I mark out the angle on the limb tips and cut off the ends. These surfaces are trued up and the small blocks for the tip overlays are glued on with Smooth-on.

When the glue has cured the tips are shaped into the bow.
