In my early years I was an pretty competitive kayak paddler and later moving onto the outrigger circuit ocean racing for many years. I always wanted to have a crack at making a custom paddle and have finally got around to it although I don't paddle anymore. Had an old longbow form and cut it down with an 10 Deg offset angle for more stroke and power in the paddle. It was my first one and hope to make a few more down the road. I thought you might like a few photos of something a little different made out of wood.

Specs - 53'' laminated canoe paddle, Palm woods are red cedar, African mahogany, Shaft red cedar, Norfolk pine, Handle red cedar, Norfolk pine and boxwood.

My brother-in-law would admire your paddle. He is an old time paddler in the K1 class and still goes in the Murray Marathon. His name is Bill Dunn. You may have heard of him. He won a few Marathons paddling by kneeling on one knee and alternating so he could get a longer stroke and have his weight over his paddle for more power.

He is 75 now and only goes in outrigger events with a crew due to a dodgy heart valve.
