2nd longbow done

#1 Post by bryan » Thu Mar 21, 2013 6:05 pm

G'day,

I have just made a string for my newest creation that I finish last night. Its my 2nd go at a laminated long bow. I did have one small crissis after I had glued and stacked all laminations just before I set it aside to dry I relised the lams had moved :surprised: I quickly pushed them back together best as possible however the is small glue pockets where the lams join in the middle. Due to there position and the fact that the glue fill them nicely I don't think it will be too much of an issue just a visual one.

Its 66" ntn I'll officailly weigh it after a fire a few through it tomorrow afternoon however I think it will be about 70#. Its american walnut riser and rock maple lams.

Its not quite the work of art of alot of the other bows I have seen on here however for my 2nd go i'm pretty happy whith it. Hope try it out on pigs over easter.

Congrats mate! Great to see others making bows. The brace height looks too low to me but that could just be from the new string stretching while you were taking the photos. All the best with the hunt and please do take some photos.

I'll second that Macca, plenty of info already been posted on here and plenty willing to offer advice when asked. Only do though if you are prepared to never look at a tree the same way again [timber timber!] and want to spend practically every waking moment dreaming how to make the perfect bow

:surprised: that is amazing work Bryan. Are you a professional boyer, cause I can't believe that is your 2nd go at making a laminate longbow.

Where did you learn how to how to do it? (apologies if I seem a little nieve, it is just that I am new to the forum).
