Saluki Test Arrows...

#1 Post by Guy Layton » Sun Oct 31, 2010 11:28 am

Gday guys,

I thought that I would post a few pictures of the test arrows I have just completed....

They were blank unfinished footed shafts from Wallace Woods ( thanks Sue and Steve ) varying in three different spines... The foot is Jarrah and the shaft Hoop pine... I am running with the 5 1/2'' Magnum cut feathers from Gateway and clip on classic nocks ( thanks John ) with 160grn brass points from Mark...

I didn't want to go too crazy on the capping and cresting, as I didn't want to take away from the look of the new upcoming bow.... ( Which I am itching for to get here...!!! :( )

Cheers Guy.... :D

ps. A big thankyou to Sue and Steve from Wallace Woods for getting these shafts to me on such short notice....

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!

Morning Guy.

Does this mean that there is a Saluki Bow in your future?

simple, sweet , elegant I really must do something with my footed blanks. I understand your nerves, not wanting to undo Steves good work :)

Rod, yes mate, Tony's arrows are out there...! but I am sure with my kids getting older and wanting to build their own arrows, I am going to have some pretty wild paint jobs myself...

Yep nother fan here.

I use them out of my Predator recurve. They stabilise the best IMO and are easy to track through the air. Mine are flouro Orange and I found it easier to buy a cutter from Mark at tradbits and cut my own than try and find a retailer with them in stock.

Cheers

Crivens Guy! They are a very nice set indeed.

Thanks again guys for your kind comments,

The other day I gave the arrows a test flight out of my 55# recurve and two of the three flew very very nice, but the third was a touch stiff... I cant wait to see how they fly out of the Saluki... :D I was surprised to see how silent the banana feathers were.... I think they are a keeper...!!!

Jeffro,

I am having trouble finding the time to make arrows as well... :( I think Winter is a much better time as the days are shorter and that means more shed time...

Cheers Guy..
