The arrow hanger 2000

#1 Post by stringnstik » Wed Oct 06, 2010 8:00 am

Gday all,
In the shed the other day and knocked this up.
The "wire shelf" came from an old fridge. You can find these things anywhere. Like all good musicians who carry a guitar pic in their wallet, I carry an arrow nock and always on the lookout for things that fit it :) The plastic covered wire mesh is the best. These wire mesh come in all shapes n sizes find one that suits.

The simple trick here was to mount it so that:
A it could fold outa the way.
B i dont have to hold it as I insert the nock. That is, with one arm behind my back and holding the arrow by its point with the other. I can push the nock into and thus hang the arrow by it.

So enter the world of irrigation supplies.
One riser, two barbed Ts and two hose nails.
The riser acts as the support. I pushed (heated the riser end to make it easy) the barb into the riser end. Notice on the T that clicks into the wire hanger I chopped off the barbs and split the horizontal part of the T. Cut the slit to suit the wire diameter so its a nice solid but clickable/removable connection.
the other T goes on the other end and allows it to pivot out of the way when not in use.

oo the wire shelf/hanger is held up with hose nails(P clips) again so it can pivot flat when not in use.

shown hanging latest lot of arrows.

Clever man! Well done. :)

Thanks gents. Let me know if anything is unclear. I should probably post a pick of it folded away. If you find the right wire gage it really is a nice snug click.

I originally had a full shelf which was 450mmish square. But it just took up so much room when not in use. The first one I made was just wire and not a snug fit, too loose with temp changes, wire expansion contraction, I could find a a few arras on the floor :(

Shop down the road fixes fridges, stack of em out the dump round back. Like lollies in a loly shop :) the plastic coated ones seem to work great. I think maybe the plastic gives a little. Not too hard to click in not too loose,,just right said papa bear.
