Fluffys in a string

Hi Guys
What position in a flemish sting do you put woolie fluffys and why.

I can't help you with this one Matt as I haven't found the need to use silencers on either my longbows or self bows.

Anywhere you want, really, just as long as they're equi-distant from the limb tips. I usually start them about ten inches from the tips, but have recently placed them with a start of about twenty inches. The closer they are to the middle, the quieter the bow; the closer they are to the tips, the faster the arrow (but not by much). Some people use two pairs on a string; I used-to with rubber cat's whiskers.

I ask because I bought a new longbow from the US a couple weeks ago and it came with fluffys about ten inches in from the tips,but I had some beaver fur silencers so I took the fluffys out and put in the fur in the string in line with the lamination fadeout in the riser which made the bow noisier and slower.

Seriously though, I thought 1/3 of the length from tip to centre was the go ?

I think trial and error is the way to go, as all bows have different characteristics. Wherever you feel the bow is quietest, and where you can't feel the difference in arrow speed is the spot to put them.
