Looks nice Rod, The knot in the tip is a good effect .
Re: still playing
Rod...I've seen your bow rack and it's looking pretty full...
If you need me to provide a "foster home" for this bow I am fully prepared to build a brand new bow rack for it to reside on... and it will receive the love, care and space a young bow needs!!!
Another impressive Gringa creation mate... I wish I had an ounce of your knowledge and talent!!!

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is no where as important as being able to place it in the correct spot....!

Re: still playing
Thanks Guy,yes it was for myself ,but for some reason it came in 10lb lighter than i wanted, i think it was the clear glass.
Re: still playing
I have found black glass is stiffer for its thickness than clear mate thats one of the resons I like it chasing performance its got more grunt for its mass.

Re: still playing
yep,the next one i do for myself will be with black or brown with the same core thickness see what happens.
Re: still playing
Hi Rod,
Another fine bow.
Do you use a clear sealer on the wenge before applying the finishing coats of clear?
I believe you are correct in that clear glass delivers less performance for a given core thickness. I am chasing it up with Binghams to see if they have any performance value figures.
Daryl.

Re: still playing
thanks Daryl,i usually use a sanding sealer with the wenge, but the can was off when i went to do this one so ive just been painting and sanding till i fill it,should have just bought another tin
Re: still playing
The sanding filler I tried on my last bow with the wenge made the wenge go lighter looking loosing the nice dark contrast.I plan to sand it back one day and refinish it.
Cheers KIM

Re: still playing
Nice Rod, as always. I like the lighter bow colour for a change the bamboo must look good under the clear.
Keep up the good work the magic combination must be just around the corner mate.
Cheers Wayno

Re: still playing
Yer it don't look half bad Another top job mate Just watch Blu-dog, I am sure he already has a full un-blooded rack
I reckon that Wenge with some Brazilian blood-wood might look damn hot in a future Gidget bow Might be getting hooked to all this wood Look forward to the next Gringa creation
The pics don't do it justice

Re: still playing
Kim,what brand was the the sealer you was using the stuff ive used is Feast Watson .Thanks Wayno and Gary
Re: still playing
Same brand as the 60 % gloss top coat which is awsome but I wont be using the filler again. As it is an industrial coating it does not have the same sort of labling as retail type products. When are you going to experiment with the laminations again mate get a bit more SPEEEEEEEEED happening.
Glenn and I might be making one together soon with some new ideas we want to try to try to get the last bit out of the defiant design. We are after 200 fps with 10 grain per pound and a takedown with the bowbolt in it.
It is so great to see so many guys making bows now and passing on the craft to others also.
Cheers KIM

Re: still playing
Nice work Rod. I like the osage window. The curve in the sight window looks nice.
Daryl, when I use Wenge, I seal it with superglue. I mask up the other parts of the bow and let it soak into the riser. The brown grain really sucks it up. Then I take to it with the sandpaper again and find that I can get a really flat finish. The superglue gets pretty messy and takes some time to sand up well, but the end product comes in really nice.

Re: still playing
Kim,i havent tried that paint yet,i've gone back to septone for now,i'm pretty happy with the way my bows are performing now,but i may start playing with power lams and tip wedges in the future, but for now i'm just playing with different handle patterns,....Glenn's a smart man when it comes to making bows,so ya's should come up with something decent ............Thanks Steven,i might try the super glue idea next time i use wenge see how it goes

Of course it's excellent, I would expect no less from you, Ol' mate! Well done, as per usual!
