Arrows can be wood...
As I am going to some more trad shoots I decided to go with the popular trend and go with some woods.I have made some before for the lighter bow but knew the timber I have is not stiff enough for the new longbow so I ordered some bare timber shafts from Steve Wallace.WOW these shafts are true craftsmanship and very consistent with only a few grains diff over a doz shafts. The timber quality is really good and I did not even have to sand them before staining and cresting them.
Many people know that Steve sells the made up arrows and we would all love a set of them but many don't think to get bare shafts from him as well.I even was a bit cheeky and told him the final arrow weight I was after and these came out right on the money at 615 grains which is the same as my hunting carbons and they fly very much to the same point which makes it easier to swap back and forth between the two. These cost me $48 plus post and knowing it would take me weeks to make them myself for a poorer finish I think they are an absolute bargain and have ordered another 2 doz.A big thumbs up for another Australian product....

Just out of curiousity what timber are they made off? They look good and when finances allow I might get some bare shafts for myself. Got very tired of trying to make my own out of origon.

Justastik Arrow Craft, Its all about the Wood.
Re: Arrows can be wood...
Hoop pine is nice and light but strong. I make arrows from 8mm dowel for the wife and kids and get the 9.5mm dowel and barrel/tapper them for myself.
