Introducing myself
Hi to all of you at ozbow traditional archers. I have been lurking for a while and now would like to introduce myself.
My name is Alex and I just started in archery in August 2006 and like most of you , I too got bit by the bug.
First bow I got was a Internature 62" 35# that got me going until December when I tried to make my first recurve with some plans from John Clark from Ausbow. Since then I have made two more , the second having failed at the fadeout of the top limb.
Even with the plans that I got , lots of information I got from Ozbow traditional tackle.

Thanks for the welcome
Hey!
Thanks for the positive reply guys.
Archery is really an addictive sport, isn't.
Was actually my wife that introduced me to it , I reckon she regrets a bit now.
Is taking over my soul.
Anyway, the bow with the insert is my first bow . Is 62" and is pulling 68#.
The other one is the one that failed at the fade out. It is 60".
I am just finishing a thirt bow , is a 60" and by now is pulling more or less 50#. I will post some pics later.
The insert in the first bow is a scroll saw work .
Again ,thanks for the welcome and for the good replies BSrecurve and stickbow hunter. By the way , I am shooting at the Grange Bowmen club at Bridgeman Downs.

Hi Alex
Great looking bows --- obviously you have the disease, you will be able to join the rest of us at ' Bowyers Anomymous" --- It is good to have another bow maker on the site.

thnak you all for welcome
thanks you all for the welcome and positive replies.
Have been reading this forum for some time already and have got a lot of inspiration out of it.
About the brace height , I was making my own endless loops strings but they were making the bow very noisy so I had to lift the brace height to stop them from slapping the limbs. Now I am using flemish twist strings , and as they don't hit the limbs so bad , I could bring the brace height to 8 or 8.5 inchs.
The bow on the pic was still shooting with 10" brace height .
Got to learn to make this flemish strings , they are good stuff.

10" brace?
Looks great though... what woods did you use?
I don't know if I am describing this properly but in the picture the bows are resting on a table - is what you see in the picture a single piece for each bow, or are they resting in the section that was cut out to make riser/handle/grip and that is a seprate piece to the bow??

about the bows
The bows in the pic are sitting on the off cuts of their handles.
The first one is maple core pams in black fiberglass.
The other is Tassie blackwood in black and white fiberglass.
The last one that is on the finishing stages is maple in black fiber glass covered with veneers of jarra and zebrano . In the handles I have used some rosewood and silver ash.
They shooting now from 8 or 8.5 inchs brace.
