While waiting for my next composite bow to come off the glueing table, I was playing with different fletching patterns. I had found that 4" shield cut feathers were too long and decided to cut them down to 3.5" When half way through the cut, this pattern showed up. Out of curiosity, I copied this pattern on two arrows and shot them from 20 metres. The arrows flew dead flat and hit exactly where I was aiming. There must be something about this length of feather (or pattern) that works for my bow.

Well, it sure is distinctive
Don't know how it would improve accuracy, maybe pyschological

No noise at all heard in flight. But they
certainly do fly dead-straight ... although as Jeff suggests, it could be psychological. Probably right, anything's possible once you reach the grand old age of 55!
