Father Son Time...
I went to the blacksmith club meet in Brisbane today and to my suprise my son Michael was keen to come with for the drive. This was a shock as he is not what you would call a hands on type of kid, beat any score on the xbox no worries but if it involves dirt or using energy he is never keen.Anyway a liitle while after getting there a nice chap asked if he wanted to have a go and Micheal jumped at the chance and spent the next hour or so hanging on Peters every word and ended up making a leaf from a bit of steel bar about the size of a pencil.I think we may have lit a spark(pun) in him because after lunch he was straight back to the forge hammering away again and I have never seen him as proud of anything as he is of this leaf.I bought drum of coke and we will be forging at home here tomorrow. It was a great day.
Cheers KIM..
PS If anyone in the Bris area wants to have a go you are most welcome and it will be the best value you can get for 10 buck which includes a nice lunch too.

What a fantastic "hands on" experience! I hope he keeps the interest going...will make for some interesting times and discussions for the two of you!

Nice one, I used to frequent the WA version of this at the Claremont showgrounds many years ago. Blacksmithing is great fun.

What could be better? Great stuff, Kim.
Lately, if life were treating me any better, I'd be suspicious of it's motives!
