Great story Rod. It's good to see a young bloke find himself and regain his confidence.

Great story Rod and reminds me a little of mine and now I live here with an Aussie girl. Look at it this way, if he does head off to Japan then you have an excuse to do some travelling of your own and some free accommodation while you're there too 8) I think you should also be proud of yourself too for giving your son the nudge and that chance to experience the world.

What? Are you certain he's yours, Rod? DNA testing is cheaper these days, you know! :P
(Only ribbin' ya mate! I know how close you are to Ben)

Sounds like a great adventure! Hokkaido is a great place, lots of countryside and some wonderful national parks. Does get a bit of snow though!

Hokkaido is great. Many years ago (1984) I spent a month there skiing. The snow was excellent, the scenery was good, and I had a lot of fun with the people - they also had fun with me. That was in March - nice days, but damn cold at night.

I read that the Japanese refer to it as "the air conditioned prefecture" for it's mild summers and cold winters. 8)
