I'm watching this 2004 series on Youtube and I'm really impressed. It's presented by a re-enactor/historian type fellow, there's very little "tv razzle-dazzle", and he includes details that re-enactors appreciate. The user Kisk79 has chopped each 45 minute episode into 9 x 5 minute segments.
This series appears to cover the sword, shield, armour, lance and longbow.
Naturally, I started with the longbow Part 6 even shows the cross section of a composite crossbow prod made of horn and sinew, and shows the chopped up fish swim bladders used to make the glue. Most tv shows would never even mention anything remotely like that let alone show it.
I saw a goat's foot in action for the first time as opposed to static images. He goes through goat's foot, cranequin (?) and finally a windlass crossbow too.
It's got way more (correct!) detail than most historical tv shows, and very little of the cr*p we usually have to endure.
