My new knife - Blackbird SK5

... I love my toys (incase anyone hasn't noticed?? ) and decided I wanted a new knife. After my hunting trip in Kamchatka (the real Russia) a few years ago (unfortunately non-bow) and using a good knife for everything around that camp site, cooking skinning etc, my knife kept coming out of...

Re: New TV show - "Vikings"

I am looking forward to seeing it once it comes out on DVD, I don't have pay TV and I just can't stand commercials. It would have been nice if they titled it Northmen/ Norsemen or something more accurate rather than using a bastardisation of a verb - viking which basically means rape, pillage and pl...

Re: A friend's lament

Sorry for your loss mate, I know exactly how you feel. I had to put my 15 year old Schnauzer down 6 days ago, and I was too upset to make a post. I feel your loss.

Cheers

Re: Another stop on the highway of shattered bows...

That's a real bummer indeed.

Have a look at a Toelke Whip, you can get them in takedown with a locator grip. Top quality bows for sure.

Re: The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Jase, that's what she wants, Andy has a 42" Pilgrim that's 12# at his draw length and spits the arrows nicely. You can get both purple and pink in the pilgrims. Fraser. Yep, they are a good quality bow. Sheep horn tips are a nice addition. Caitlin's is in pink as I said, but I wish I had bough...

Tis good to hear that I am not alone

She has a nice little longbow and hope she stays interested. I also bought her a cool youth Sitka opti-fade camo baseball cap for Sh#ts and giggles.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

I walked in to the bathroom and there is my 5 year old daughter on the dunny reading one of my bowhunting mags. Of all the "My little Pony" and dozens of kiddy books, she prefers to peg through the mags with their many pictures of bloodied game! According to my wife - she always ...

Re: Roadkill

how is a photo of roadkill any thing other than a picture of a deceased animal? Even if you took a video of you skinning the beast, how do you proove it comes from the beast at a later date? They do not have barcodes. Whenever I need help I ring the Pest Species Officer at NP & WS. I would have...

Re: Roadkill

If you are really keen, you could take a photo of the animal in situ and then use it as proof of road kill should some authority figure decide to hassle you. I would be very surprised if you would then be prosecuted successfully.

My intention was not to create a debate on the virtues of single bevel broadies over double bevel. In fact I didn't mention SB until asked what type of head I was sharpening. Sorry Jase as it was me that side tracked the thread in the first place. If you wish I can try and split the debate f...
