Re: the ol' bow exchange.

it would be a awsome to get togeather and do something like that, pddcr i wouldnt send you a slugish bow, i give those away every now and then, the reason i started this thread was because i like the idea of trading bows between each other so once you get used to shooting the bow and really get to k...

Re: New Bow How To

if you want 100% trad an unbacked bow is the way to go, a backed bow is equily valid but not a timber backing it would have to be sinew (which is hard to come by if you not a hunter)

Re: New Bow How To

damn shame, if you have the TBB series read up on working knots as they are a weak aria and need special attention, also as jeff said if you can get a mature tree as: a. provides more staves b. the backs will be flater (safer) c. gives you more wriggle room when following the grain (i.e. snakes, kno...

Re: Arrows in the Raw

yeah is very stiff per its mass i have used it in a few bows as both power lams, and full length cores. i however dont know if i would trust it as a back or belly, i havent tested it in either capacity but its price tag limits much experimentation on my buget, you know. it is a beautifull timber to ...

Re: Arrows in the Raw

thats what im thinking, there are soooo many timbers out there i was even thinking about blackwood as a shaft as its light in mass but siff as (hence y i like it in core lams) and it would make 1 of the best looking arrows out there, depending on the specs that the shaft came out at

i havent found that loose nocks cause poor arrow flight, i shoot self nocks cut in the same way as "speed nocks" i think it must depend on how you hold the nock to the string?

Re: New Bow How To

looks like you have found a nice bow wood there, it also looks like the string will slip of b4 the bow breaks, and thats a credit to the timber and your tillering. may i surgest that since the bow is fairly short, once the bow has taken the most set you would allow, stop tillering there as the bow i...

Re: bamboo arrow supplies

using boo shafts is basicly the same as timber, i personaly always use the lager end for the pile (as obviously boo grows with a slight taper) and use a forshaft whos length depends on the application for the arrow, its also worth mentioning that if nocks are to be cut into the boo itself then they ...
