Re: Simple bow rack and arrow storage.
Mick, that's outstanding. I'm sitting here inside near the fire as the weather outside is blowing a gale and the rain is falling sideways wondering if I was to make something like that would the wife get annoyed because I didn't make the things she's been nagging me to make. On the other hand, she h...

Re: Eye Dominance from bow shooting to camera shooting
G'day Kendaric, for years I believed I was left eye dominant (did the eye dominance test) but recently I've found that I have no eye dominance. Most people 'see' more with one of their eyes, hence eye dominance. I've found that I use my right eye for shooting my bow and my left eye for doing things ...

Mick, I squeeze my shoulder blades together however I notice after about 30-40 arrows I start to get a bit slack and let my form slip. After that I need to concentrate on getting my form right and my shoulder blades together.

I'm similar to Kerry, I live on 1000 hectares and if I want to go for a hunt all I need to do is walk out into the paddocks. life's good.

Re: Bow explosion, another hard lesson
Yes I remember those days of self bow attempts and having them brake on me. That's one of the reasons I went to recurves and longbows with fibreglass. That and it was getting extremely expensive to keep buying staves. lol

Re: Are we fair dinkum???
I am always trying to better myself when it comes to form and accuracy. I was going to put 'Luckily I have perfect form and I shoot like a machine' but that would just be my sense of humour talking. I have used my iPhone 6 to video myself shooting at my practice target in slow motion. It picked up s...

Re: Meet Rusty
They are a nice looking bird the Australian Bush Raven, ie the crow. Extremely intelligent too. Sometimes too intelligent. I once saw one take a steak off a barbecue and drop it into a small pool of water on the ground for a couple of seconds to cool it down. It then picked it up again and flew off....

Re: Shooting the longbow ( Flat bow ) compared to the recurv
G'day Matt, to me it sounds like your arrows might be a bit too stiff for your longbow. Are you using the same arrows for it as you did for your recurve? Remember the arrows have to bend more to get around the off centre shot that the longbow has. You may have already considered this but it was just...

Re: Do you prefer 3D targets or paper animal targets at even
When it comes down to it I probably wouldn't care too much either way. I just like the 3D targets as they're more realistic. But as Perry said, some clubs aren't fortunate enough to have all targets 3D due to cost.

Re: String silencers.
G'day Mick, I use merino wool on all my bowstrings, whether they're longbows or recurves. I either use wool straight out of the shearing shed here on my property or use pre dyed merino wool from the shop by the yarn. Either way, I've found wool to be an excellent string silencer, quiet and light. Ra...

Re: What sort of butts do you prefer?
I think I'm a bit of a sook too. I like to be able to get my arrows back nice and straight, and in one piece if I miss the target. Although, it's a good feeling when you nail a 3d animal that's sitting in front of a dam. Maybe a mix of natural terrain backstops with some tough ones thrown in to keep...
