hey mick, what model are those steiner 8x32 binos that you have? i'm looking at getting a pair of 8x30 nighthunters.

charred cotton cloth for tinder. will take any spark from flint etc. bike tube and vaseline cotton balls. they work great at
-15c. they will burn in the snow and put out lots of heat for about 10 min. enough to get damp twigs going.

use whatever is comfortable and repeatable. there are no written rules. don't be afraid to try different things and develop you're own style. good luck
