charred cotton cloth for tinder. will take any spark from flint etc. bike tube and vaseline cotton balls. they work great at
-15c. they will burn in the snow and put out lots of heat for about 10 min. enough to get damp twigs going.

can anyone help identify this species of wattle (acacia ???????) it grows on my parents property in eukey, just south of stanthorpe, QLD. it grows in very rocky ground. the elevation here is just over 1000m, which makes for cold winters and warm summers. average rainfall is 30 iches/year. it is not ...
