Re: Why 32”.

As I have developed my skills, I have started to think on the history in the bows I make, and through that my own ancestry. I started making flat bows for hunting and target archery which led me on to ELB...

Re: Saved one today and learned a big lesson
Col, you can fix that tiller, but you are going to lose weight. First third to mid limb needs work I reckon, more on the left limb than right. You could shorten it to bring the weight up again.. Next time, have a try at floor tillering each limb to where you want it, and once your happy with how the...

Re: Spliced Yew Elb"s (selfbows).......both bows done!
Great work mate!! That bow is gorgeous!! Have you got any arrows there to get back to 30? or just shooting in at a normal draw to keep it safe on the splice in the handle? There's just something about that crowned back ay, no idea what it is but it just works. I think Im going to have to bite the b...

Re: Spliced Yew Elb"s (selfbows).......both bows done!
Here is the second bow. 77" NtN, 30mm x 30mm Handle. Mary Rose lay out. Semi crowned back, bow would not move till I crowned the back. Much stiffer than my first stave, which is weird as there are more growth rings per inch on the 40 lb er. Red Deer Nocks in White. Followed the contours ...

Re: Spliced Yew Elb"s (selfbows)
And back to the first stave........... We have my first successful Yew self bow!............... all be it with a spliced handle! I have left this bow a little stiff in the handle, with good reason and tillered accordingly. It looks a little Victorian I think! The bow is 74" NtN and has come in ...
