Bamboo can now be flipped and ground until the concave side is flat, then return to the rind side and grind until approx 4mm thickness before tapering to required dimension.

Clean, blemish free bamboo of large enough diameter to make wide laminations. For use under clear glass i make sure only spotless bamboo is used otherwise it is discarded for backing selfbows.

Hey Guys, I would ask if you would not hammer AA clubs. The situations that you are mentioning are probably individuals rather than the views of clubs on the whole. I think you need to respect the views of others when it comes to hunting and hunters if you wish for the same in return. You guys have ...

Hi Jape, A good source of home made broad head material are the fingers of clutch pressure plates from small cars, they are already rough shaped and just require an edge on the linisher.
Your Broad head looks good. Steve

Hi Jimmy, Alot of target oriented clubs can be a bit thingy, espcially when you turn up with timber arrows, apparently more likely to lose a point and wind up on the end of a $7000 dollar carbon shaft  I say to them what are you doing shooting in the 5 ring anyway?? :?: For this reason Archery ...

Hi Joel, the first year or so of shooting is more about getting strentgh and muscle memory to be able to do the shot without conscious thought other than complete focus on what you are aiming at. You have good form, and strength so just keep up the practice and reading and the rest just falls into p...

Hi Mick, thanks for taking the time to reply. I will have to talk intuitively rather than from great experience with regard to traditional hunting. I feel a bows length should be long enough to accomodate an archers draw length to keep string angle within the 90 deg,I would probably shoot 68" f...

Hunting bows

What distances you would expect to be shooting at? What bow types/characteristics you look for when ...

Hi Grahame, We had perfect conditions, a slight breeze at times, the most I had to aim of was the last marker flag so I can understand that with a stiff breeze or wind it would be extremly hard. I was in a bad mood on the way home, cursing that I had blown the entry fee, blown a day, walked 4 kilome...

The general consensus is to aim with your arm guard and adjust it up and down and adjust according to wind strength and direction. Hi Alicat, Just to add to Graeme's post, make sure you keep it indoors or under cover at least, I allow it to dry/settle for a little while and then nock the centre nodes out witha pole to allow better air flow and quicker drying. Do you mean John Macdonald? I just had him make 100+ arrows for our club fund raiser before his trip, so he is nice and high on the fumes.

Hi Jape, I find a new feather works best at stabilising an arrow, feather height, offset and spiral can affect speed especially in low poundage bows so you need to find the perfect compromise. With regard to glueing the feathers on, if most of the quill is sanded off they seem to curve easier and not...
