Re: How to stop butchering my hands?

Re: Treasure Hunting/Metal Detecting
Did a lot of gold prospecting some years back up north with and without detectors. Was always a plan of mine once retired to gallavant about trying my luck on old goldfields. I didn't factor in getting a severe addiction to all things bow making, which basically runs my life now.I am sure you will h...

Get the sandwich board board ready - Keys found. - and stand near the entry to the Car Park mid-afternoon onwards. When you take up Target you will discover that Metal detectors are handy for finding arrowh...

Re: Making My Longbow
Getting close now guys, Should be shooting it on Wednesday. It's taken me a long time with the tillering mainly because I'm always worried i will take too much wood of then i take shavings of hair off the bow and it's not enough haha. We have the bow at a 5-6inch brace now and have tillered it to 1...

Re: Making My Longbow
I just finished tillering to a neutral tiller guys. It's bloody scary working on the bow without perry watching i was worried id make a mistake but hey, it went ok :surprised: At brace there's about a 2 to 0mm difference in string height between the top and bottom limbs. (compared to 6-9mm LOL) Tha...

Re: Bunnings shafts?
Gday Jim, Spines are for around 70-80lb bows, You can reduce this with heavy sanding, Some hardware stores stock a smaller diameter, Its about 7mm (5/16 ish) compared to 9-9.5. (23/64) Spines are surprisingly close which shocked me. Just make sure you spend a lot of time finding straight grain dowel...
