Re: Tree ID

Thanks guys I might do a bit more research on brush box and see what I come up with. The chunk that came down has been down for at least 12mths and the straight section that I'm thinking of using is well up off the ground so I'm hoping it will be in god condition and reasonably seasoned. So tomorrow...

Re: Thread for strings

Thanks steve I mainly asked out of curiosity as I have seen just about everything else on here made from scratch I figured someone would have done a string from scratch using plant fibers. I have found some free plans for an electric spinner that I'm gonna give a go http://www.electriceelwheel.com/w...

Thread for strings

I was just wondering if anyone has spun their own thread from fibers to make bowstrings. If so; What fiber has been used? How has it been spun I have read the chapter on strings in the TBB vol2 and found it quite interesting and would like to give it a go. Been researching different ways etc and als...

Re: Strange question

Thanks yeoman So when you say make the bow longer should I then adjust all other lenghth measurements by the same percentage when using the schematic? Or should I just lengthen the outer section that tapers in width? Or lengthen the section near the handle that is parallel? Sorry just not sure how t...

Re: Strange question

Also I'm looking at doing something like the one in the link below which Dennis provides the schematic for.

http://www.ozbow.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=12641

is that a god design for a first bow?
From what I read it seems to be but would like to double check

Thanks

Wooden Self bow makers

Hi guys I have been lurking around this site off and on for a year or so as I wish to get into bow making. I have had a fascination with archery since I was about 9 but I have never done anything about it. So in the near future I will be joining the local archery club. On to the subject of the post,...
