Re: Samick Sage review.
Yeah the limb bolts can be changed. you could quite easily make flush mounted bolts & companys like 3 rivers sell some pretty flash "antler bolts" that funtion the same but have whitetail antler accents instead of a bolt head. The reason for the extended bolts is so you can hand tighte...

Samick Sage review.
I bought a Samick Sage about a Month ago based off a lot of good reports. I had to admit that i was a bit skeptical (complete bow was only $130.00) I tend to base a lot of my online purchases on "customer reviews" and the "3 rivers" site had plenty good to say about this little b...

Re: A quick Rant...
I’m going to have another chat to this guy this weekend. In his case, I think “ignorance” had a big part to play. I do accept that a minority are out there deliberately doing the wrong thing. But the fact that “information” and “hunting” experience are so hard to come by over here, I think people ar...

Thanks all for your comments.
I left the club feeling sick after that conversation at the weekend.
It's good to know i'm not alone in my thinking.

Re: A quick Rant...
NSW already has a game licence before one can hunt and the applicant has to pass certain requirements before it is issued. also they have a very active game council which liaises with Government desk jockies to hopefully protect our rights. That state is well ahead of others. ABA as an archery body...

Re: A quick Rant...
I grew up in Minnesota, which was very hunter friendly. I started Deer hunting at twelve. A major part in getting to do this, was the education we went through. both on ethics and marksmanship. We do have more restricions over there, Hunting has a "Season", weapons have to be registered, a...

A quick Rant...
I was at the archery club (target) the other day and talking with a few guys who are just starting out, We got to talking about bows and one guy was very keen to hear about my hunting bow. We got to talking about what species there are locally to hunt, and I explained that while I live in Perth most...

Re: Transitioning from target to hunting bow.
Instinctive shooting at its best, I would not like to be the one throwing the discs. The action does not start until about one minute into the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vCSkiNJwXA Daryl. I loved this video. It made me think: if this is the skill level a mounted archer can achieve when ...

Re: anyone tried oak?
Damn, i'm three for three with oak, two weekends in a row. I've gone to the timber shop, picked out the best plank, carefully roughed it out and glued up a handle. it feels nice and "bendy" then i try to draw it back a little so i can start to tiller it, and....crack  three broken pla...

Re: Transitioning from target to hunting bow.
Byron Ferguson's 'split vision' method is practical and quick to apply, here you focus on where you want to hit and become aware peripherally of the gap of the arrow tip to the target. I find if I concentrate on the tip too much, I shoot high, however if its done right I find it works well and is q...

Re: KA-BARs Anybody out there
I use to run a usmc kbar for my sticking knife and always wanted a wart hog just thort they looked sweet I was lucky enough to be issued on of these when i was in the USMC, I used to use it for a throwing knife when we got bored in the field. It's the best knife i've ever owned. I left it back in &...

Stump Shoot'n!
I woke up this morning and headed out to the hills from some stump shooting, Man what a great way to spend a day. I find its a great way to practice hunting shoots and get a handle on judging distance. I broke a few arrows in the end but it was worth it to be out in the bush with a bow. I know its n...

Re: The Web, Reatailers and Archery.
To be totally honest, "3 rivers" and their reviews were the deciding factor in me buying a Samick Sage. When i saw the price on other sites, i thought a bow that cheap would be rubbish. But after reading all the customer reviews about it, i went ahead and got one...best decision ever! talk...

anyone tried oak?
Hey all, My daughter has been getting the archery bug after watching me shoot a few sticks in the backyard. So on a recent trip to the timber yard i grabbed a bit of American Red Oak. (total cost $10.00!) i got two planks about 50mm x 8mm x 1.5m with the view of making a quick and dirty takedown bow...

Hey Perry, Yeah, it was "Modern Traditional" Very helpful. And on the Ethical Side of things..don't worry, I have no plans to try any hunting until i'm very, very confident in my ability to hit a target at any range. We used to have a saying back when i was in the Marines. "...

Hey all, Just an update to let you know how this is going, i watched a video last night on "string walk'n" and decided to give it a go. It felt a little wierd at first but once i got the hang of it, it was damn accurate. At 20 yards my grouping is all in about 50mm!! in fact i heard a new ...

Re: Transitioning from target to hunting bow.
Man, you just can't beat these Perth winters...perfect weather for shooting. I had a very successful "sight-less" weekend as i'm learning the ropes of this instinctive caper. I found that shooting "split", and anchoring my middle finger in the corner of my mouth works very well. ...
